binary I has very few land dwelling species on account of how difficult it is for them to process the high oxygen levels. one of these land-dwelling species is nicknamed after cuckoos. they are hyper adapters that biomorph based on needs that must be met. they can adapt whatever trait necessary within a few weeks, but the process is very painful. the term needs is ambiguous because it can both serve for survival as well as emotional needs. one of the cuckoos, fwirn, started out on binary I. adapting traits from other subspecies before accidentally stowing away on a BAHC transfer ship. it landed him onto binary II where he had to adapt socially or get stranded out in a resourceless wasteland. he happened upon another (different species) binary I dweller being cared for as a ward by a SDT kin named ning jie. fwirn had taken a few weeks to adapt traits from the dweller, kyrja, before attempting to join the wards "nest". he resembled kyrja close enough that he looked like a similar species to unknowing outsiders. ning jie took pity on another "lost child" and took fwirn in. from there, fwirn adapted traits from ning jie, blending himself into a mix of the two to cement his placement with his host family.. (A/N: kyrja knows fwirn is a cuckoo and is terrified. ning jie has no idea; she is under the assumption that kyrjas dislike is a pseudo sibling rivalry).

eventually, the SDT (and caravan, yes, the same one that haoran was in. this occurred while haoran was still in the caravan) had stopped at an outskirt tavern to rest and splurge on dinner. at this point, fwirn felt more comfortable knowing how to navigate survival on binary II and didnt really need a host family. he was fascinated by enyo who was also dining at the tavern and decided to split ways with the caravan to pursue him under the guise of joining enyos cause (wulpas). kyrja was definitely pushing it and trying to help sell it to ning jie because hes a literal nest robber.

after traveling together with enyo for some time, horrifyingly enough, he somehow obtained a picture of enyos dead wife along the way. he began taking traits from her to endear himself more to enyo. as the two continue to journey together, fwirn adopts the fools moniker by wearing garbs with red coloring but not the persona or other accessories. hes so unnerving and hasnt quit figured out how to act fucking normal how do i expect him to act out the wulpas persona. hes not even here to be a wulpas, hes just obsessed about enyo.

on some level, enyo is aware fwirn is not rlly a SDT kin. part of a cuckoo is disarming any alarming feelings at noticing Somethings Not Right. its an induced pyschological manipulation but it also works because enyo also feels stuck in fwirns orbit.
