Tseten | Arjun
Houses and Birdcages
Hyem is nearly inhospitable except the scant land inside one of the cirques, where an island rests in the middle of the tarn. Unconventionally, this lack of land/resources has grown the community tighter than one would find on BI/BII. The ancestral clans and different kin tribes all reside together. There isn't as much socio-emphasis on clans but more so on the Sentinel. The limited space has encouraged a commune lifestyle, constricting the Spire and its wards to a shrine located directly within. This close contact means the Sentinel has a much larger societal impact than normal.
In order to ensure the community relation bonds stay strong, Hyem's Sentinel, Arjun (born Tseten) was arranged into marriage with an artisan from one of the kin tribes (Kryosolaniamorph named Yuan). On some level, they care for each other, but it's very obviously not an unconditional love.
The combination of the confined space and not being able to choose how to live for himself, Tseten is severely stir crazy. Although he is adept at leading, this frustration often manifests into outbursts and isolating himself (even from his spouse). Tseten has boiling resentment for every aspect of his life because he never had a choice, could never be liked/wanted/needed for Tseten, only desired because of his position as Arjun. He sarcastically refers to his predicament as "playing house within a birdcage".
