MHINAM
haoran was born under an unlucky star, with a sick mother and mysterious black branding marks. his clan believed it to be an ill omen (religiously, black is a color of death). his clan and father put up a farce of acceptance in hopes that his mother will regain her strength. they believed that less stress added to her plate would help her heal quicker. she had gone through recurrent bouts of fever and illness for years before succumbing to a coma. the elders and her husband resorted to herbal euthanization just before haorans 6th birthday. after her passing, they stopped with the farce and began outwardly shunning him. closed door whispers turned to face front hatred, and he was banished outside the city. i mentioned previously how big of an impact religion plays in iyacan life, to them, an ill omen like haoran could mean life or death for the clan and its spire. in this way, they were trying to let nature run its course so they wouldnt be pinned for killing a child. haoran tried to get by on his own, often sneaking into the city outskirts to scavenge and beg for food from soft-hearted clan members. (A/N: his design reflects his upbringing, a malnourished childhood meant he wasnt able to grow as tall as binary II iyacans are supposed to).
he was seen often within the outskirts and rumors trickled from the lowside to the more established end of the city about him surviving for 5 years. rumors misconstrued, the upperside inevitably heard that the 'ill omen is still plaguing the city'. late one night, a couple of higher status iyacan children created makeshift weapons to "hunt the beast". this isnt a case of villainism, its children learning hatred from adults. children who dont entirely understand whats happening but want to help adults not be upset all the time. the children found him huddled inside an abandoned, dilapidated shack and stabbed him while he was asleep. both out of anger and fear, he wrested a weapon out of one of their hands and hacked at whatever tried to touch him. the wounds were serious but not life threatening, scattering the children. an older brother of one of them caught the children as they were fleeing back to their homes and took one of the spears still gripped in their hands. the night ended with haoran actually being hunted before subsequently being pierced upon the spear before his body was dumped off in the wasteland called falloff.
